A summary of many great views…
I just needed to make this rebloggable.
This screams “ageism”.
I knew about sexuality at 14.
Hell, I contemplated it inside and out at 14.
Fuck people who think all teenagers are ignorant and don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about just because they’re teenagers.
We’re people too. We have feelings. For some of us, we just need to externalize them or sort through them.
Nobody has the right to shut me [or this 14 year old] up because we’re a few years short of being “adults” in the eyes of the government.
Reblogged for commentary. Seriously, if you’re following me, you should be following Regina, Cuyler and Meridian as well. They are three of the most intelligent and entertaining people on Tumblr, and guess what? They’re all under-18s.
Truth. Discussing healthy sexuality should begin WAY before adolescence. For one, wouldn’t you rather your child learn it from you before they learn it wrong from someone else? Wouldn’t you rather your child understand the importance of ‘good safe touching’ and ‘nasty, icky touching’.
Parents should learn how to be open with their children and expand on this subject as they grow older. Making those feel guilty for their knowledge on sex or having sexual feelings is making them the same as making them feel guilty for being human. Sex is natural and it happens. Some people like it. Some people don’t. Either way, it’s necassary for everyone to be okay with discussing it, regardless of age.
If you like it or not, teens are going to figure out sex. What’s safer? Explaining it to them, or letting them experiment and find out on their own? Which increases the risk of unprotected sex, improper usage of condoms, pregnancy, STI’s, or not understanding the difference between sex and rape? Talking about sex in a healthy manner will never be inappropriate.
Being a bigot, however, is.
Love,
Taylor
